Early music published for dancing
was usually arranged for the 'Society Orchestra', consisting of a string
section, cl., fl., cornet, trombone, and piano and drums. These arrangements included
oboe, bassoon & Fr. Hr parts. As most towns did not have a full orchestra, arrangements were cross cued. The most popular instrumentation was: lst vl, fl, cl,
crt, trb, stg bass, piano, & drums. The arrangements ranged from easy to medium
difficult. Our rating system will use E-easy, M-medium, and A-advanced. The listings are
in chronological order.
During this era in American popular music we sometimes find labeling which today would be considered either racial or politically
incorrect. To maintain historical accuracy, we use the exact original nomentclature -- without any
prejudice inferred.
Note: These arrangements are not currently available for online purchase using PayPal. For payment instructions, please contact Dr. Koenig and specify which arrangements you are interseted in purchasing.
